メルとティム(Mel Hardin and Tim McPherson)はいとこ同士のデュオ。
ミシシッピー生まれ、1969年にジーン・チャンドラーのBambooレコードからのデビュー曲「バック・フィールド・イン・モーション」が最高位10位のミリオンセラーとなっている。
Staxに移籍第一弾でフィリップ・ミッチェルの書いた「スターティング・オール・オーヴァー・アゲイン」を大ヒットさせている。
ポップで軽快なシカゴ・サウンドと彼らの泥臭い唄法が魅力。
