ジョージア州アトランタ生まれ。
1967年、South CampからレコードデビューしローカルレーベルのTowerでダン・ペンの「Rainbow Road」をヒットさせ注目を集めるようになりました。
その後、Sam DeesのレーベルMoonsong / Piedmontと契約を結び、彼はライターとして活動し「Stop This Merry Go Round」(ジョン・エドワーズのヒット曲)をはじめ「I'm A Believer Now」や「Tag, Tag」を発表しています。
1977年にはSam Deesのプロダクションで、Preludeから唯一のアルバムを発表しました。
