1938年2月20日ミシシッピ-州ジャクソン生れ。52年頃からシカゴで音楽活動している。59年に除隊後にソニー・トンプソンのバンド歌手を経て、61年にレコード・デビューを果たしています。
南部系のシカゴ・ソウルが彼のスタイルですが、77年に突然「Dip My Dipper」というモダン・ブルースのヒットに恵まれ以降はブルース・シンガーのイメージが定着してしまったようです。
言うまでもありませんが、彼の魅力は60年代に凝縮されています。
CDタイトル曲の「Here Comes The Heartaehe」がベストで「Sad Feeling」が次点かな？
